Let's look after Jerez

When family or friends visit from out of town, Jerez looks its best when it's clean. Here's the practical part: when to take out the trash, where to take what doesn't go in the container, and who to call if you see a problem in the street.

Let's look after Jerez

Household trash

From 20:00 to 22:00, inside the container

These are the times shown on the city's containers. The bag always goes inside, never next to the container or on the ground.

See the City Council leaflet

The brown container, for organic waste

Fruit and vegetable scraps, peel, meat, fish, bread, coffee grounds and used napkins, in a compostable bag. All of it is turned into compost at Las Calandrias.

What goes in the brown container

Oil, clothing, batteries and light bulbs

They don't go in the container. Take them to the Punto Limpio Móvil (mobile recycling point), which goes around the neighborhoods from 10:00 to 14:00 and from 16:00 to 19:00. The calendar shows which day it comes to yours.

If you see a problem on the street

A broken container, trash piling up, a full trash can: reporting it takes a minute. You can also do it from the official app JerezSmart.

So it never comes to that: leaving trash in the wrong place or at the wrong time carries a €100 fine, not picking up after your dog is a minor offense (€75 to €500) and dumping rubble in the street can cost up to €5,000. Data from Jerez City Council, checked on October 19, 2026.
